Texas coach Steve Sarkisian made a major comparison involving Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith after facing the Buckeyes this season.

As Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith continues to rack up stats and make college football history, he's receiving plenty of praise, including a recent comparison to an all-time great wide receiver: Randy Moss. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian got a close-up look at Smith last month when the Longhorns faced then-No. 1 Ohio State in Week 2. In that game, which Texas won in a stunning comeback, 24-23, Smith had eight receptions for 164 yards and a touchdown.

During a recent SEC teleconference, Sarkisian made the Smith-Moss comparison while discussing the Buckeyes receiver's talents. "If there’s anybody that could probably compare to somebody who could take over a game similar to Randy Moss, I would say it would be Jeremiah Smith," he said on Wednesday. Smith and Moss are similar in size at 6-foot-4, although Smith is 222 pounds while Moss was listed at 210 pounds during his playing days.

Moss initially signed with Florida State but never played there, then joined Marshall for the 1996 season. He played two seasons at Marshall, finishing fourth in the 1997 Heisman Trophy voting. More news: Joel Klatt Makes Bold LSU Prediction Amid Lane Kiffin ‘Circus’ “He’s got length.

He garners your attention on every snap," Sarkisian said on the teleconference. He also reflected on his team's game against Ohio State, acknowledging how Smith was a major factor in the first half, despite Texas ultimately coming back to win in the final quarter. "I don’t know if we played them great this year.

I think we found a way to get a couple stops in the second half. The first half was a tough go. But you better know where he is.
