The New England Patriots hosted the Philadelphia Eagles for the second straight day of joint practice on Thursday. After the session, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and Eagles signal caller Jalen Hurts met on the field for what appeared to be a friendly discussion. Maye was asked about this interaction with Hurts after practice.
In his response, the reigning MVP runner-up heaped some serious praise on the veteran QB. Rooting for him," Maye said of Hurts, via NFL insider John Clark of NBC. "I told him back when I was committed to Alabama, he was one of the quarterbacks I was watching play there.
He is a Super Bowl champ. That speaks for itself.” Hurts and Maye clearly share a great deal of mutual respect. Hurts delivered a similar message about Maye following Wednesday's practice session.
"I just think he needs to continue the progression that he’s on. I mean, he’s already accomplished so many great things in a short time and I expect more great things to come for him.” The Patriots and Eagles will face off in a preseason matchup at 7 p.m.
