Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson suffered a right thumb injury on his first offensive snap against the Buffalo Bills in Week 8 that requires surgery. With this brutal news, Jackson has been placed on injured reserve and his season could be in jeopardy. Now in response to Jackson and Tyler Huntley suffering injuries, the Ravens brought in a new quarterback.
According to ESPN's Ian Rapoport, the Ravens have signed quarterback Austin Reed to their practice squad. Reed is a player who the Ravens are already familiar with, as he played for the team during part of this year's training camp. Now, he is heading back to the Ravens with this latest signing.
Reed has yet to appear in an NFL regular season game, but it will be interesting to see if that will change as Baltimore deals with injury trouble. At a minimum, he will provide the Ravens with more quarterback depth, which is a massive need for them right now. Reed was previously a member of the Chicago Bears' practice squad from 2024 to 2025.
He also has played in the UFL with the Dallas Renegades.
