Browns GM Refuses to Rule Out Signing Deshaun Watson to Contract Extension

While on ESPN, Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry did not shut down the idea of signing Deshaun Watson to an extension.

With the Cleveland Browns having young quarterback Shedeur Sanders waiting in the wings, many have wondered about Deshaun Watson's long-term future with the AFC North team. This is especially so when noting that Watson is in the final season of his five-year, $230 million contract with the Browns. Yet, the possibility of Watson sticking around with the Browns beyond this season appears to be there.

During a recent appearance on ESPN Cleveland, Browns general manager Andrew Berry made it clear that he has not shut the door on the idea of signing Watson to a contract extension. "I wouldn't take anything off the table," Berry said about the possibility of a Watson contract extension. Hearing that the Browns are at least open to signing Watson to a contract extension is interesting.

He has struggled to be the same star quarterback he was with the Houston Texans since joining Cleveland. He has also dealt with plenty of injury trouble and did not play at all last season after re-rupturing his right Achilles tendon. Yet, even with this being the case, Berry appears open to signing Watson to an extension.

It will be interesting to see if the Browns end up locking him up to an extension this season.
