It turns out that the NBA's all-time leading scorer likes to exit in style as well. ESPN NBA reporter Dave McMenamin shared on social media that James took a helicopter from the Philadelphia 76ers Training Complex in Camden, New Jersey to New York on Tuesday following his practice with the Sixers. The four-time MVP is in his first season with the Sixers after signing with Philadelphia in July.
James, who considered joining the New York Knicks this offseason, will be splitting his time between the City of Brotherly Love and the Big Apple during his upcoming 24th NBA campaign. The 41-year-old said during 76ers media day on Monday that he also thought about signing with one of his former teams (the Cleveland Cavaliers or Miami Heat) over the summer before joining Philadelphia. James joins former Boston Celtics NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown as the 76ers' two new starters this season.
Philadelphia acquired Brown in early July, 20 days before King James took his talents to Pennsylvania. The 76ers landed Brown in a blockbuster trade that sent nine-time All-Star Paul George and multiple future draft picks to the Celtics. James and Brown round out the Sixers loaded starting five, which also includes holdovers Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe.
